Trucks...

Eben & I celebrated our eight year anniversary last week. We got dressed up and went to dinner - Edison had fun playing with at our friend Andy's house with his children. We definitely have a lot to celebrate and to look forward to for the coming year. I can't believe it has been eight years already!


Our town hosted a "Touch a Truck" fundraiser last weekend. Edison had a blast - except for when the older kids would honk the horns too loudly. They had just about every kind of truck you can imagine and the kids could climb in and around all of them. This is a street sweeping truck. Notice how there are two steering wheels - so you can drive it from whatever side is right next to the curb. The steering wheels are linked together which made it fun to play around in.


One of Edison's favorite trucks right now is the cement truck. He likes it because it is essentially a giant wheel (favorite word) that spins the cement. It is really funny how the driver is just in a tiny little compartment.


But Edison's favorite truck is actually his Little Tikes "Cozy Coupe" car. We keep it in the living room for now since the driveway is gravel here. He loves sitting in his car while watching Sesame Street (aka - a half our when mom can make dinner in peace!).


Eben's father, David, came to visit on Sunday. We went to the Mystic Seaport and explored the ships while enjoying a beautiful, early summer day. Pretty amazing family resemblance, I'd say.

Edison Wishes He Had a Big Sister

Good friends of ours, Steve & Erin, came down to visit this weekend. They brought their four year old daughter, Liv with them and we were so happy they did. She and Edison got along famously. Note the handholding on the slide in this picture. She watched out for him like a big sister and he, in turn, worshipped her. Too bad he never was able to say her name. He called her "girl" all weekend. Oh well - it was still cute to see how much they enjoyed being playmates. I am hopeful that Edison will get along well with baby #2 in the same way - but of course he'll be the older one in that relationship.


This has been a beautiful weekend- 75 and sunny. Yesterday we all went to the beach. Though we didn't actually get in the water, it was a fun outing.


Today we went up to the zoo in Providence for the first time. It is a smallish zoo, but in a wonderful setting - part of a larger park complex. The animals looked healthy and there were great trees too provide shade. Edison encountered a roaming chicken in the zoo and gave it chase. He never actually touched it though, but it was fun to watch.


The animal that fascinated him the most were these tortoises. They were surprisingly active.


Family portrait on the camel. Yes - Eben has a black eye. He got it playing basketball last week (so he says...). I am ready to pop - less than one month to go (at 36 weeks in this picture).

Pete & Jennie's Wedding

The reason we went to Seattle was to attend my cousin's wedding. I was so happy to celebrate the marriage of my cousin, Pete, to my friend Jennie. Eben & I actually set them up as she was a classmate of his at the CG Academy. Pete looks pretty happy, doesn't he? Nice tux, too!

The reception was at Pier 66 and had a beautiful view of Elliot Bay and Puget Sound. Don't Lisa & I look amazing - we clean up pretty well!

More Seattle Photos

There was a cool "finger skateboard park" at the Pine Lake Park by my mom's house. Edison enjoyed pushing his Matchbox truck around the track. I think it is a cool, original idea.


Edison loved cuddling with his Great-Grandmother, Bestemor (Norwegian for Great-Grandma). I am so happy that they get to share this time together.


Does Edison look like his Granddad at all? I think so.


Another of Edison's favorite daily activities at Nana's was helping her with the dishes. He was excited to play with the bubbles and the water. Hopefully these feelings will last into his teenage years!


For an early Mother's Day, my mom and I went to the Botanical Gardens in Bellevue and then out to lunch. As you can see, the flowers were lovely and it was a beautiful day!

May - Visiting Nana

Edison got to "drive" a big rig a few weeks ago. The library organized a "touch a truck" day and a local man brought his truck in for all the rug rats. As you can see, Edison had a blast! (so did dad)


Edison got ahold of the camera the other day when we left it unattended in the living room. He took 10 of these, too bad he had a big boogie in his nose otherwise they'd be a lot cuter.


Edison and I spent a few weeks in Seattle with my mom, which was a lovely vacation for me. Edison totally bonded with his Nana and they are smitten with each other. He loved it when she would play "this little piggie" with him. One night he actually climbed up on the couch next to him, pulled off his socks and wiggled his toes in her face until she played it with him. How hilarious!


Every afternoon when Edison woke up from his nap, we took him over to the pool in her community. It was the best ever - he got to play (out of the house!) and it took care of the awkward hour before dinner. By the end of our stay there, he was very comfortable in the water - he could kick and paddle with his hands, but still won't put his head underwater. Oh well! There's still plenty of time...
