Pumpkins and Eben's Birthday

Reed seems to be growing and doing well lately. Hopefully he is putting on a good amount of weight - we will find out at next week's appointment.

Eben's birthday was Friday. We kicked it off with presents at breakfast. I found him a large backpack - perfect for weekend packing. As a bonus, our children can also fit.
The kids had Friday off of school due to parent conferences, so my mom came up and we took them to find the perfect pumpkin. This was it.

Getting one kid to the look at the camera is hard enough - let alone all three of them. This must be a taste of family photos to come....
After much consternation, we got it into the wheelbarrow.
We had our friends and their kids over for Eben's birthday party. That's Dillon helping Eben blow out the candles.
It was a total 1960s moment - all the women and children were in the dining room eating cake while the men were in the living room drinking beer...
We are trying to finish up the chores at the cabin before the snow hits. This week it was splitting wood, stapling mesh over the holes in the eves to prevent birds from coming into the attic, and marking the driveway with snow stakes.
 Reed comes everywhere with me.
At the schoolyard, playing pretend house in a floorplan marked by river rock.
Edison frequently asks to hold his baby brother.
Charlotte just wants to touch him and love him all over - maybe a little too much sometimes.
We finished putting hardwood floors in the kid's room at the cabin the weekend before I went into the hospital. Looks way better than the plywood that was in there before. Eben did a most of it, but I am proud that I helped lay some floor too!

Autumn in Eastern Washington

Reed is growing every day and even cracking a little smile here.
Reed is very interested in what Edison and Charlotte are up to.
We went down to Wenatchee to go to a ski swap on Saturday. We didn't find any skis so we went the Confluence State Park instead.
This is the first time Edison and Charlotte successfully conquered the rock.
So proud of making it to the top!

Then we went to Cashmere to visit Jay and Sara at their homestead at her family's orchard. We ate a ton of pears and had the best fresh pressed apple cider ever. And it was a gorgeous day to roam around the grounds with good friends!

Charlotte Loses the Training Wheels!

This week Charlotte ditched the training wheels! Hard to believe she isn't even three-and-a-half and she's riding like a pro.
And Edison moved up to a bigger bike handed down by our neighbors.

We celebrated Grand Daddy's birthday this week with a yummy lemon meringue pie.
Thanks for the cute outfits, Tina!
He has started to enjoy his baths. As you can see - - - he IS gaining weight. At his check up this week he is now up to 6 lbs, 15 oz! That made him 7lb even for his due date of October 12th!
 Just a little light reading....

Eben invited his friend Paul out from work. With is killer truck, they picked up a lot more of the wood around the property.
Now that swimming is out of the question, the remote control boat is a fun beach activity.

Kids in Kayaks

Charlotte and Edison both want to be firefighters for Halloween - it is their favorite pretend game at present.

 Love the pigtails!
Nana came out to the cabin last weekend.
Tiny baby in a big bed.
The kids are hooked on waffles now - they like to watch them "grow" in the waffle maker.
Tiny baby in a big chair.
Lots more alert times and fun expressions. You can see how he is taking in the world.

Nana brought her camper out to the cabin and showed off the new interior. The kids had fun hanging out inside.
Nana also brought two inflatable kayaks and the kids enjoyed the afternoon paddling around Lake Wenatchee.

Edison has been making some really cool Lego spaceships, too.
