MW Vacation Day 1: Crazy Snowstorm at Stevens to Kick off Midwinter Vacation

Started the day in LFP with a full Subaru. Long, snowy drive to Stevens Pass to ski. The snow was coming down like crazy. Finally got in lift line - the lines were SO LONG since they only had a few lifts open. Couldn't see anything, but the powder was amazing. It was surreal since it was kind of like trusting and hoping there would be snow under you as you made your way downhill. With the driving snow, long lines, and crazy conditions, we ended up only staying for a couple runs. It took a lot to dig out the car to leave - I read letter it was snowing 4" an hour! The Thule box lock froze and I couldn't lock it. Slow drive to cabin - over an hour - they closed Highway 2. They closed Stevens to skiers at 2:00 due to road closure. They'll reassess Rte. 2 at 8:00 tomorrow. Priorities - just happy to be safely at the cabin at this point! And even better, we dropped in at the Birgfeld's cabin for a bit and it had a fun bar. Ha!
