Sucia Island with Eric and Olivia - Part 1

The last day of school was a half-day, so we had the boat all packed up and headed out to Sucia Island at noon with Eric, Olivia, and their children, Margaret and Joseph. We were so happy to get out for our first boat adventure for the summer with our friends!

 Low tide launch at Lummi Point - Durango handled it well. We packed the boat Thursday night for a speedy departure Friday.

 A little overcast Friday, but the forecast held sun in our future.

On Saturday we hiked the north side of the island - the Lawson Bluffs trail - out to the north point on Shallow Bay. The views were spectacular and the sandstone point was really interesting to explore.

Charlotte's Concert, Graduation, and Father's Day

Charlotte just had her kindergarten concert in June. She was beaming and knew every word and every hand motion! She even had a speaking part and nailed it!

 

 

She also did an amazing job on her Orca Whale report. She works so hard on her assignments, it is really rewarding to see.

 As this school year ends, I have to bid farewell to this beautiful and talented crew of senior ladies of Shorecrest ASB - McKenna, Megan, and Sophie. I loved every minute of working with them and their futures are SO bright!

 Happy Father's Day, Eben! You are so loved by all of us. The amount of gifts the kids produced this year was quite impressive. But hey - they love dad just that much!

 

Lastly - here is the core group of the LFP book club! We've been meeting since the winter and I look forward to these evenings so much! June's book was "Night Circus" and we got together on the Solstice in Natalie's garden. It was an enchanting night which perfectly matched the book.

Edison's 1st Grade Concert & Hiking Dirtyface Peak's Fall Creek

Edison sang in the 1st and 2nd Grade concert at Ridgecrest this past Friday morning. His music teacher, Ms. Early, had orchestrated quite a performance of about 8 songs - some in different languages and others involving dancing. For most songs, one of the classes would rotate to the stage and accompany the singers on xylophones and other percussion instruments. Edison chose the Alto Xylophone. It was really fun to see this big concert!

 

 

We headed to the cabin after school on Friday. It was a gorgeous weekend out there and we went hiking on a new trail for us. Basically we hiked the first mile of the Dirtyface Peak trailhead to a cool waterfall feeding Fall Creek. It had an amazing view of the whole Lake Wenatchee/Plain valley and we can't wait to take our friends to this special spot.

 

Opening of Jetty Island Season!

We took the Whaler over to Jetty Island this Sunday - it was a rare 90 degree day - and met up with Matt, Lisa, his parents, and the Adams Family. What a beautiful day!

 The tide was super low - enough so that Eben and Chris walked across the channel and over the man-made barge built for protecting the harbor.

The kids had a blast - spending hours building a giant dam. Their teamwork was commendable.

 

JUNE - Senior Prom 2016!

Senior Prom was at the Seattle Art Museum this year. It was a really cool venue. We had a great team of chaperones at the event, as per usual!

 

Brynne did an awesome job organizing this as senior class advisor.

 Josie-bear! Now our Chief Justice, I've watched her grow since her first days as a freshman. She brightens my cloudy days and always has something witty or silly to put out there just for fun.

The photobooth was super fun - this is my ASB Core, I will miss them dearly: McKenna, Sophie, Megan, and Evan!

Charlotte's Sixth Birthday!

Charlotte requested a Wild Kratts, animal-themed birthday. It was a really fun theme to work with and lots of possibilities. The birthday tradition begins with baking the cake the day before.

 Charlotte opened presents from mom and dad on her birthday morning. She was super excited about her new karaoke machine, microphone, and tons of music. First up - Frozen!

 We made the frosting and decorated the cakes. Charlotte loved figuring out the perfect spot for each animal.

 Next up, the birthday party. We had so many great friends there. They had a few animal-themed games, including one in which they had to guess what animal they were. Then they had to locate their animal partner blindfolded across the yard by making their animal noise.

 

They also had a team challenge game - lilypad crossing. They had to get from one end of the yard to the other without touching the grass. The teamwork began when they realized they didn't have enough lilypads to reach from one side to the other and they had to get creative.

 Later we celebrated with Granddaddy Herbert and Marsha with a lovely dinner al fresco. Charlotte enjoyed her new books and Legos!
