We bought a membership to the Mystic Seaport a couple weeks ago. It is a great place- basically a semi-working historical village, pre-Revolutionary War. There are a bunch of ships to tour and buildings to go through and it is right on the water. Additionally they have a few buildings/activities just for children.
Here is Edison playing in the shells at the Seaport. Wow - did we need a membership for this?
I hope he doesn't figure out how this thing works!
He loves being at the helm. His latest favorite new word is "wheel," so you can imagine he was enraptured by getting to turn the steering wheel to his heart's content.
Right now one of the rotating museum exhibits is about maps and it is geared for kids. This part of the exhibit asks people to listen to directions and try to map them and then pick the correct route to drive via the car (choices shown on a video screen). Edison just likes to practice driving the car and turning the steering wheel.
My friend Maya was kind enough to babysit Edison a couple weeks ago so that Eben & I could celebrate my birthday with a night out on the town. We had a nice dinner at a Tapas restaurant in New London and then watch a performance of Pride and Prejudice put on by a local theater company. It was performed in a historical New London mansion which was pretty cool as it was of the era of the novel. Thanks Eben!
