Charlotte's Eighth Birthday Party!

For her eighth birthday party, Charlotte wanted a backyard party with a ton of fun games. We had to have it a little before her birthday due to timing of the Memorial Holiday weekend, etc. So, on May 20, we gathered her friends together for the occasion. It was a lot of fun and reminded me of the birthday parties I went to as a kid. First we played Memory with items on a tray.
Then we did a Crazy Clothes Relay in which the kids had to take turns dressing up in Eben's large clothes and running across the yard to the next person on their team.

We played birthday Bingo and even the little guys could participate.
We did an egg relay - luckily the grass was nice and soft as a few did get dropped, but fortunately didn't break.

We also played the present unwrapping game. I wrapped a present in a number of layers of wrapping paper. We play music and the kids pass the present until the music stops - that person gets to open it. At some point, they actually get down to the actual present.
We played a game involving painting our nails. The kids would roll two dice and each number combo corresponded to a different color of nail polish. We did one nail at a time and we ended up with some pretty silly combinations. Reed and Joseph probably enjoyed this the most.
And what party would be complete without Twister?!
Finally, we had Charlotte's favorite dinner (pizza) followed by her new favorite cake (Boston cream pie). And her lovely smile never left her that night! Here's to hoping it stays with her all year!
