We woke up super early on Christmas morning to get to the airport. The direct flight was about six hours to Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii. Nana traveled with us and we were meeting the whole extended family for a special once-in-a-decade family vacation. The kids did well on the flight - having free movies is a big plus. Stepping off the plane was like entering an entirely different world. It ended up being about 84 degrees every day while we were there - perfect weather for a tropical vacation.
Floyd helped us check into our condo at Hilton King's Landing in the Waikoloa Beach area. The condo was very well appointed and with 3 bed/ 3 bath, there was enough room for everyone, including Edison taking over the couch in order to get away from his brother and sister. We were the corner unit on the ground floor and had a really nice outdoor area and grassy lawn right there. And in addition to the big pool at the clubhouse, we had a "small pool" just next to our building that was perfect for a short dip. What a grand start to our family vacation!
