Camping at Jones Island - 1

We have officially found the best campsite in the San Juans. It is on the southern end of Jones Island  and stands all by itself out on a point. Jones Island is off of the west side of Orcas Island, just a short buzz over to Friday Harbor or Roche Harbor on San Juan Island. It had beautiful madronas, douglas fir, and gerry oak trees which gave us lots of needed shade this weekend.

The boat could stay in this quiet cove just a few steps from the site which made offloading the boat not as challenging as we were anticipating.
We had fun dinking around on the beach on our first day.

After dinner we played in the big meadow field at the main beach.

The sunset colors were beautiful and restful. And we got a surprise visit by a deer to our campsite.

Ahhhh - camping! So much packed into the day that sleep comes easy for these three. Notice Charlotte fell asleep clutching her book. Her reading has come along so well this summer!
