Canadian Adventure Day Four: Lund and Savary Island

There is much to see in the Desolation Sound area, too. We wanted to show Meg and Chris our favorite spots and they wanted to get the lay of the land (and water) before possibly coming up here with their sailboat in the future. On our first day in the area we headed southwest to the Copeland Island group marine park, then to the town of Lund (the mainland's jumping off point to Desolation) and finally to sandy Savary Island. The Copleland Islands, where we stopped for lunch in a small cove, are very similar to islets found in the San Juans.

Lund (where we stopped for ice cream) is a small community, accessible via several ferries, that houses fishing boats and water taxis for the area.
Savary Island (where we spent the afternoon at the beach) is absolutely gorgeous and is home to many off-the-grid vacation cabins and white sandy beaches.

Eben and Chris couldn't resist joining in with the local teenagers to jump off the public pier.

Back at the campground, we capped off the night with listening to the live music on the lawn.
