We worked hard in the morning, I had a work Zoom, the kids did their home learning - we are in the zone. Nana came over at 11:00 to see the progress we’ve been making in the yard. It was fun to show her all the changes! After lunch, we went to Ridgecrest and picked up the kids’ art, work books, etc. from school and got to see their teachers and say “hi.” We listened to Governor Inslee’s address in the car and learned we are under extended quarantine through May 31 now with a phased return to normal that would take us into July at the earliest. Sad news, but necessary to keep everyone safe. We stopped at the Index Town Wall again and scrambled and played on the boulders. We also checked out the Skykomish River which had such a cool, glacial color to it right now. We enjoyed downtime at the cabin and it felt like a real Friday night. We continue our new routine of post-dinner exercise - the kids rode bikes around and I walked after them.

We had a lazy start to the morning which was pleasant. Then we headed down to Wenatchee with our bikes to bike the Apple Capital Loop Trail again. We stopped a few places on the way just to explore. We were able to fit in a good 10-mile ride just before it started raining. On the way back, we got gas for $1.85/gallon and took a lap around Leavenworth. It felt like a ghost town - almost all stores and restaurants are closed, but we did manage to find some yummy popcorn for an afternoon snack. By comparison, Wenatchee had been downright busy - parking lots full, drive-through lines so long they backed into the street, etc. Clearly tourism is hurting right now.

We hiked the ridge above Plain on a new trail. WOW! It was a 1.3/mile round trip hike and the end point was a high point that looked down over the whole Beaver Valley, including a really great view of the Wenatchee river. There were tons of wildflowers in bloom and the air was pleasantly soft and smelled amazing. I actually really prefer this ridge hike to the one we had been doing for years. Yay! I really enjoy finding new happy places! We had a hot lunch at the cabin before packing out and returning to LFP. It was cold in the mountains, snowing at the peaks, but sunny in LFP. The kids played in the yard while I unpacked. They made up some crazy games but were entertaining themselves and happy. Charlotte was in charge. I still don’t really know what was going on! I did a three-mile run and they joined me for the first bit on their bikes. It was just good to be home, moving, and screen-free! And Reed lost a tooth tonight! Good thing the Tooth Fairy isn’t under the stay at home order!
