We had 18” of snow in 24 hours at North Lake Tahoe (43" in the four-day storm cycle). The road to the ski area was closed for awhile on Thursday morning, so we made it down to see the lakeshore which was beautiful in a freezing and eerie kind of way. Two more days on the mountain with super deep powder, low visibility and not too many other riders out there. We had fun checking out the Lookout Mountain part of Northstar which felt remote, isolated, quiet, and pristine. We ended up staying one more night at the kitschy Crown Motel inKing's Beach because the skiing was so good and the driving was so bad. The storm ended Saturday morning and it was nice to actually be able to see across the lake, over to Heavenly. The drive back to San Francisco was slow going as I-80 had been closed the day before. But we made it. Then we had a yummy dinner at Kothai in the Inner Sunset neighborhood followed by a stop at Fireside afterwards.
