All three kids had an excellent summer swim season at Aqua Club! They all qualified for Northern Finals in two individual events plus relays and they swam a total of 10 races at the All City Championship between them. The best part was seeing their interest in growing their skill and stamina at the sport increase, their work ethic and preparation get stronger, and then seeing them get the results of personal records and time drops in this last part of the season as it all came together.
I survived being the Co-Meet Director for All City this year with the incomparable, “couldn’t ask for a better partner” Dave. We hosted 16 teams, probably 1000 folx, for our big end of season meet. We had to bring in bleachers, a shuttle service, food options, another timing system, a lot of supplies, etc. and coordinate with volunteers, officials, our staff, the league, coaches, etc. to pull it off. There was overwhelming support and enthusiasm for our fellow Aqua Clubbers on both the All City Planning Committee who pulled off the lion’s share of the work starting last spring and to our coaches and our manager Tyler Lippold, our staff, and club members. WOWIE! What a great day at the pool! It was just another swim meet, but it also was a really special swim meet!
A quick summary so I can remember this later ----
Reed: 100 IM (#4), 50 BR 41.09 PR (#2) came back for a breathtaking race and out touched the other swimmers with a great finish, 200 MR - BR & 200 FR - anchor. Pretty awesome considering he aged up this year and is only 9.
Charlotte: PR’d in the 100 FR at Northern finals & barely missed All City, PR in the 50 BR at All City with 34.99, and her 200 FR was incredible, just missed setting a team record and got #3, just barely getting touched out of second. They are all 13, though, so that team will be back with a vengeance next year!
Edison: Very fast 50 fly leg of 26.01 in the 200 MR (#4), 100 IM best time and finished in a crowd for #4 with less than .15 seconds separating 2nd and 5th place, 100 FR best time of 53.17 (#3) was breathtaking to watch, and fast final 200 FR Relay with his team (#5).
My kids have loved the awesome, supportive and enthusiastic coaches at Aqua Club! We can’t wait for next year!!!
