Let the festivities of Winter Break 2024 begin! First up- Escaping the rain and heading to Sun Valley, Idaho to do some skiing! It was wonderful to celebrate the solstice in Sun Valley skiing in the sunshine with views for miles of the Sawtooth Range, Pioneer Mountains and White Cloud Mountains. It is a quick 1:15 minutes of flying time from Seattle to Hailey, Idaho and that enabled me to get in half a day skiing after an early morning flight. Sun Valley makes snow all over the mountain and as long as you stay on the groomed runs, it is decent skiing. So I pretty much just bombed down the big groomers all day. I was definitely proud of my stats on the Slopes App with 25,000 vertical and a top speed over 40 mph. I feel like I’ve still got my ski legs!
I’m staying a great ski lodge in the best location - across the street from the main ski area parking at River Run base area and a short half mile walk north up into the cute downtown of Ketchum. After a dip in the hot tub, which also has views of the ski area on Bald Mountain, I met up with my friend Ryan for a yummy dinner in town at the Warfield. Then we decided to do it up at The Casino bar, a favorite local dive bar and former watering hole of Ernest Hemingway. Well, if its good enough for Hemingway… it is good enough for me. We had a heated darts tournament of 301 and though I kept hitting bullseyes, I barely lost the tie breaking fifth round. It was a super fun night out on the town!
