Spring Break - Part 3: Grand Coulee Dam

We traveled four hours east to Banks Lake. Due to the rain shadow effect of the Cascade Mountains, it is a totally different climate over there.
We had an amazing view of the lake from our deck at Sunbanks Lake Resort. We were there during the "shoulder season" and everyone there was super friendly and the house we rented was perfect.
The kids had fun.
We visited the Grand Coulee Dam - puts Hoover Dam to shame - read about it!
Too bad the laser light show at night doesn't start until Memorial Day weekend.
Eben finally got to go on the tour of the dam. This is him inside the plant with the pumper turbines that pump water over to Banks Lake which is used as an irrigation reservoir for all of Eastern Washington.
On September 11, they stopped letting cars drive over the dam. But we got to go across with the tour. The tour was shadowed by a guy with a machine gun though - it was a little disconcerting.
