Spring Break - San Diego #1 - Mission Beach, Torrey Pines, La Jolla

The kids and I flew down to San Diego and met Eben there. Eben met us at the airport after driving overnight from the Bay Area where he's stationed for work. Reed's first flight! And it has been a couple years since the other kids flew, so they were excited, too!

We rented a cute cottage in Mission Beach - just two blocks to the ocean and two blocks the other way to the Bay. Perfect location and the patio area was awesome. It was also right across the street from Starbucks and Subway - double bonus!

Heading to the beach on our first afternoon!

Dinner al fresco.
Then over to the ocean for sunset.
Sunday morning we headed up the coast a little ways to Torrey Pines Reserve. They closed the road so we had to walk all the way up the hill. The kids did great, though!
The view from "High Point." These pine trees only are found in nature in two spots - here and an island off the coast of Santa Barbara. They were amazing to walk through and think about what it would have been like if the developers hadn't come through.

The beach at Torrey Pines - the ocean was 62, not too shabby!

Lunch at Alfonso's in La Jolla.
Goldfish Point...

The Cove at La Jolla - look at the seals.

Back to the beach for an afternoon dip in the bay.

A friend of ours recommended a babysitter in the area who was awesome - we got to go out for a date night. Yay! Sunset and a beautiful new moon from our spot on the restaurant patio.

Day three: Legoland!!!Kids dreams come true!
Miniworld - all of these were made out of legos. Wow!
The Star Wars exhibit.

Rollercoasters!

Driving practice...

And - - - they have a water park! Reed loved this slide!

Back to the rides - one of Edison's favorites is driving the boat.
