Hiking with Amy's Family

We started the morning with some exercise laps in LFP. Reed and Charlotte rollerbladed two miles, Edison walked and I ran three. Felt like a good way to start the day.

Then we drove out to the cabin and met up with Amy, Mike and their kids for a beautiful hike on the railroad tracks at the end of our road. It doesn't get much better than this and every view was divine. The beauty of it all took my breath away more than once.

Mini Vacation at Great Wolf Lodge

So because Thanksgiving is so "not Thanksgiving" this year, I decided to make the best of it with a mini vacation to Great Wolf Lodge. Chlorine kills everything and there hasn't been a covid outbreak at a pool  and the plan was to hunker down in our room at all other times. We did just that and had a marvelous time!

The challenge for me as a single parent with the kids was that I had to do EVERYTHING with them. The best part was that I got to do EVERYTHING with them. I was one of the only moms on all the rides and all the slides. I was pretty proud of pushing myself to do all the stuff and I'm so glad I got to share every drop and twist and turn and squeal of delight. Reed was unstoppable and kept begging to do the Howling Tornado (the scariest slide) as long as I would ask the attend to please, please, please let ME ride backwards. Ugh! The things we do for our kids!

Just before the giant bucket of water drops!

Yummy dinner in our room. We rested up for a bit and then Reed and I went to scout out the lines and explore the Christmas decorations of the hotel.

When Reed and I returned to the room, we found a strange scene with what appeared to be lifeless children with red stains on their foreheads.... lucky for us it was just the blackberry jam and a silly prank. Then Reed wanted to try it out, too. LOL.

The lines were so short that we all got our suits back on again and hit the slides and the wave pool until closing.

We finished off the night by watching Home Alone - we're now making the transition to Christmas!

We got back to it bright and early the next morning. The kids could pick anything and they spent about 25 minutes in the lily pad pool as the only kids in it. Very cool! After a couple hours we were ready to roll out. What a fun couple days!
