I won tickets to MoPop at the Booster Auction last month and Sunday seemed like the perfect day to use them. It was in especially lovely fall day and it was great to run a little at the Seattle Center Fountain.
Reed and Charlotte were tempting fate with the fountain, but managed to stay dry this time.
The architecture and setting are pretty impressive.
And we were pleasantly surprised that the Minecraft Exhibit was here - actually the kids were THRILLED! There were lots of surprises and interactive elements. Look at the creeper, and the crafting table that actually tracks hand movements and a gaming center to try new versions of the game.
All the key elements were represented in life size 3-D which was cool - including this tree that Charlotte punched in order to get a block of wood.
MoPop has lots of really cool spaces that kids were inspired by, including the Sky Church and this cool staircase.
I had a blast going through the Pearl Jam and Nirvana exhibits. It was really cool to see the actual handwritten drafts of song lyrics.
There is also a Sci-Fi section with Star Wars stuff, including Jawas and modeling of real and sci-fi planets.
Their second time at the fountain both Reed and Charlotte came back wet. Time to go home!
Elementary schools had early release conferences this week and I tried hard to make sure the kids had something fun and active to do each day. Monday was beautiful so we went on a bike ride with Bryn and Harper. They improvised beach pictionary at the rest break.
Tuesday was election day and we sent all our positive vibes to the democrats and the Biden-Harris campaign. The kids were part of this election every step of the way and its cool to see them show an interest in politics and civic responsibility.
Its raining and we are still walking. Not one kid complained! Yes!
This is what rainy day playdates look like this year... not too shabby for a Wednesday afternoon.
