Charlotte is signed up for fifth grade instrumental. She has chosen the clarinet and we went to pick it up this week. She watched a YouTube video and read the course book and low and behold, she put it together, attached the reed correctly, and made noise!
The biggest news of the fall came Saturday when Biden-Harris was finally called as the winner of the presidential election. So, so, so happy to celebrate this direction for our country!
Meanwhile, Karen and I met up and went hiking on the Heather Lake trail. She is pretty rad and did it with a knee brace and her doggy, Luna, in the snow.
Beautiful view at the lake! Brrrrr.
We warmed up and cleaned up and managed to make it to LJs just as happy hour was ending. Score. The food was incredible and tons of vegetarian options!
We celebrated Nana's birthday with a pedicure, homemade cupcakes and a nice dinner. It was so wonderful just to share that celebration together.
Since Reed's teacher conference last week, we've been working hard at two things: 1) sitting at a desk or table during class and 2) completing assignments during class when the teacher gives time for it. Reed is doing such a good job at both and all it takes is a few reminders each day ;-)
See the command center!
Listen to the stories ready by Reed!
Look at this handwriting!!!
And we celebrate at the end of the night with games like Zeus on the Lose and Sorry. (Reed can definitely hold his own in both!)
It is fun to wake up and catch the kids focused in on something together in the morning. This time it was different structures that can be created in Minecraft.
Charlotte rode her bike to school at lunch today to swap out library books. She ran into 6 classmates. Eva and Sophia (twins who live a few houses down) invited her over after school to play outside. So fun to have friends so close! Sadly I have no pictures to prove it, but I enjoyed playing a rousing game of trivia with Edison's friends' parents as part of the Kellogg Middle School PTSA Trivia Night fundraiser. We finished just outside the medals, but we're figuring it out and will be back for victory next year!
