Spring Break Day 4: Mystic Seaport, Train to New York, Subways, and a Sunset Harbor Cruise. What a whirlwind! So much fun, though, and so much to see. We really like traveling by train! So comfy!! Mystic Seaport is one of my favorite places for hand's on, interactive history. Mystic Seaport has a village area and each old house/building can be entered and is something different (printer's shop, cooper, blacksmith, etc.) I totally geeked out and the kids enjoyed it, too.
Lobster traps overlooking Mystic Harbor.
First time riding a train (for all of us). A really great experience from New London to New York with great views of Long Island Sound the whole way.
The Great Train Hall. Popped up out of the underground train terminal to find ourselves in this amazing space in the heart of NYC.
Got on the right subway (wrong direction) on the first try. Had to get off and reverse directions. But we did it. We have a finer appreciation for Boston's T, now. But the subway is still super convenient.
Our hotel room is actually a good size and very comfy. We're staying very close to the 911 Memorial and the Stock Market.
Sunset Harbor Cruise!!!!
Chrysler Building
Empire State Building
The Statue of Liberty, herself, from our sunset cruise on the New York Harbor. Definitely a thrilling site.
The New York skyline really is magical. Also I need a better camera!
