Awesome hike with Amy this weekend! Camp Muir on Mt Rainier became our Plan B Saturday as Goat Rocks area was under heavy smoke. We had fairly clear skies until we got up closer to Muir. At that point we lost all visibility unfortunately and didn’t have a chance at seeing all the mountains to the south.
Since it was our Plan B, we didn’t have spikes and ended up hiking on the Muir Icefield with just our hiking shoes. Also bummed we didn’t prepare stuff to glissade down.
Nevertheless, it was an incredible hike. A burner for sure, gained 4600’ in 4.3 miles and got up to over 10,000 feet. Noticeably thinner air made our progress slow. But we did it!!!!! And seeing Camp Muir with all its base camp goings on was really cool.
We finished up with dinner at Paradise Inn. Can’t beat that for glamping!!!
Also ran into Dustin at Camp Muir. He's prepping to summit this week. So rad!
