Mount Rainier! Sigh! Sooooo lovely. And absolutely amazing to share the trip with The Hass Family: Katie, Todd, Sully, and Kellan.
I could not stop admiring all the beauty in this special place. Everywhere one turns- more to see and explore.
Definitely couldn’t stay still and ended up feeling good enough on the leg for a few hikes. I can’t believe this my first time at Rainier! I’ll be back for sure!! First day: kids and I at Sunrise - what a view from just a short walk on the ridge. Leg felt fine, so I was very happy with that. We met up with the Hasses at Ohanapecosh campground and had a nice dinner and explored camp. Second day: we all went to Sunrise again and hiked out to Mount Fremont Lookout. It was a great hike - just challenging enough for the kids and a new perspective to Rainier. Also got to see a herd of elk in the valley which was really fascinating. Third day - Paradise. We split up to do an easy and a hard hike but no one wanted to do the hard hike with me, so I ended up doing the Skyline Loop trail which went through a lot of different terrain and had some stunning views. I even got to check out the Paradise Lodge which was really beautiful and had so many cool NPS lodge details. Fourth Day - lazy morning at camp followed by more river jumping time before heading home. And the bikes fell off the car on the way home because the bike rack broke. Ugh. We made it home by going 30 MPH through the backroads starting in Tacoma. Good gracious.
