Nana and I try to get the kids camping each year with the camper. This was the perfect week for it - beautiful weather the whole time and the forest was totally refreshing after 90 degree heat in town. We had a spot at Red Bridge campsite right on the South Fork of the Stillaguamish River.
After setting up the tent, we went to the river the first afternoon and Reed walked right in - clothes, shoes and all. So we had to strip him down to let him continue to play. Good thing he wasn't shy.
Edison was so brave - crossed the river all by himself!
Reed loved playing in / with Nana's camper the whole trip. Standing on this stool and opening and closing the door was one of his favorite past times.
The kids had a blast playing inside the camper, too! Thanks to Nana for letting them play in there!
Tuesday morning we went for a quick hike to Boardman Lake. It was a beautiful and refreshing hike. Edison and Charlotte did great!Floyd and Kathie had arrived by the time we got back for lunch. It was wonderful to camp with them. They gave lots of love and attention to each of the kids which really bonded their relationships.
Reed loved jumping off this one rock. Note how he had brought the stool from the camper over so he could climb up more easily.
We spent another lovely afternoon at the river.
Here are some really nice portraits Kathie took of us.
Then had a campfire that night. Karen even dropped by after work and it was great to catch up with her and hear her and Frank's wedding plans.
Wednesday morning we did a few short nature loops and a long drive to Sauk Falls with Floyd and Kathie.
Charlotte is immensely proud of her kindergarten backpack.
At the site of the former Gold Basin Mill Pond. Just a small wildlife pond today, but used to be a rollicking mill site.
Sauk Falls was impressive. I scambled down to the lower rocks with Reed on my back.Edison could not get enough time with Floyd! All in all, it was a wonderful camping trip!
