Beating the Heat and a Visit from Sara, Ollie and Charlie

This has been the hottest, driest summer that I can ever remember in Seattle. We've had several weeks of temperatures hovering at 90 degrees. Most afternoons we head down to the Lake after Reed wakes up from his nap, but sometimes we set up the backyard for water play, including a water table and rigging the slide to drop into the little pool.

We also were lucky to get a visit from Sara Clarke and her boys: Ollie and Charlie this week. She is up from California on summer break from her teaching job there. It was so wonderful to catch up!
Also wonderful to see the kids together. Charlotte and Ollie are both excited to start kindergarten this fall. In the meantime, they make due with fun games such as digging big holes in the backyard (note Charlotte's garden gloves).
Have they changed a lot since they were infants?
