Day Five: On our last full day, we decided to take it easy and spend time around the condo. The kids had a blast playing tennis. Edison had taken some lessons this spring so he knew what he was doing.
Reed ran interference.
We also hung out at the playground which was very nice to have on site.
We headed in the car to Ladysmith for lunch and then out to the splash park in town - at Charlotte's insistence.
We spent the rest of the afternoon at the pool. Eben is teaching Edison and Charlotte how to dive. I got to do some reading on the balcony of the condo while Reed napped. Ahhhh.
We will miss the easy dock access.
Reed woke up and got in his last pool time, too.
Day six: Travel day. After packing up, we hit the tennis court one last time.
Then Charlotte, Reed, and I went down to the beach to bid safe travels to Eben and Edison who were taking the Whaler back to Bellingham.
Final picture and smiles before their very rough journey home.
Meanwhile, I headed down to Victoria with Charlotte and Reed. We had a nice lunch and then took in the Royal BC Museum. It had some great natural history exhibits, like this wooly mammoth and also a seascape with the stuffed sea lions.
On the third floor were exhibits devoted to people who had explored and lived in this area - from indigenous forward. This was a walk-through replica of George Vancouver's ship, "The Discovery" that was used in 1792 to explore the whole Puget Sound and Vancouver Island area. There was also a whole turn-of-the-century town to walk through. It was a very great museum and I'm glad I could share it with Charlotte.
Afterwards, we walked through the Inner Harbour. Here is Charlotte with her "C," a part of the Welcome to Victoria planting in the harbour. The stunning Empress Hotel is in the background. The city has quite a British feel to it, complete with red double-decker buses.
This is the Parliament Building and the capitol of province of British Columbia.
