JULY - Summer Swim Lessons, Edison's 8th Birthday at the Cabin

We are trying to get into a rhythm with continuing school-type work. So we have 20 minutes a day of workbook time, computer math, and reading. It is good to have a little structure and has been working well so far.
The kids have been going a few blocks down the hill to the Aqua Club for swim lessons. It is a cool outdoor pool and tennis club with a little wading pool for toddlers.
Going to swim lessons every day has really improved Edison and Charlotte's strokes and endurance. They are asking to be on swim team next summer, and they'll be ready!
We went to the cabin for the weekend. The river is still really high at the swimming hole and there isn't much beach yet.
We kicked off Edison's 8th Birthday with his favorite breakfast: blueberry pancakes with tons of strawberries.
Eight - six - and two.
Edison made a very detailed and lengthy birthday list. He cut it down to his top 20 favorites - among those were swim fins and a snorkel.

We went down to Lake Wenatchee to play in the sun and test out the snorkeling gear. It was a little too windy to play much in the water.

But the wind didn't stop Edison! Snorkeling success!
After lunch we moved to a new spot on the Little Wenatchee River that was protected from the wind. But - wow - the water was SO COLD! It had probably just been snow a day or two earlier!

And while we were up the valley, we drove up to this viewpoint that looked east over the whole valley. Breathtaking!

Edison finished his birthday with his choice - a campfire.
