The kids and I headed to Las Vegas this weekend in search of sun. We stayed at Cancun Resort a couple miles from the strip. It had its swimming pools still open and a condo-type set up that made it a great fit for us.
Our first day we drove out to Hoover Dam and Lake Mead. The BMW we'd rented for our trip was really fun to drive and the kids like the sun roof. The visitor center had an interesting film and slideshow lecture about the process of building the dam. Reed liked the exhibit that demonstrated how electro-magnetic electricity was generated and even wants to do a science project to create that himself. There was also a really neat interactive map about the power grid. Walking along the dam in the sunshine was beautiful and awe-inspiring and it was pretty fun to say we were going to walk over to Arizona or the next time zone from where we started.
Meanwhile, back at the resort, we enjoyed more sunshine and a beautiful and perfectly heated pool and water slides!
Our last outing was to Inspirada Point to catch the sunset over the valley. What a great day!
