My new mindset is to plan "dates" with the kids as our family time since we have to schedule it and make sure it works for everyone. Gone are the days of spending an entire weekend at the cabin together. Now it's 3-hours on a Sunday evening if everything works out. I'm trying to embrace this new phase of life and we had a great time taking the light rail to the U-District, walking through the UW campus, and then grabbing a yummy dinner at a hole-in-the-wall burger joint on the Ave. I like being able to show my kids a slice of campus life so they can consider it for themselves.
