Powder Highway: Day Four - Skiing at Kicking Horse Resort

We woke up to a  beautiful morning with light snow coming down and skied right out of our condo and over to the Golden Eagle Express Gondola which rocketed us up 3400’ to the height of 7700’ elevation in just 12 minutes. Guess what - there is snow up here on the Purcell Mountains. At the top is the fancy Eagle Express restaurant and views for days when the clouds lift. It is also possible to drop into a few different bowls from this point. We stayed high to start, doing laps on the Stairway to Heaven Quad lift in Crystal Bowl. Later in the day, we would go top-to-bottom (over 4000’ vertical) and try different runs. But the further down mountain we went, the less coverage was available and there were rocks and sticks all over the place, sadly.

We skied back for lunch, then went back up for some afternoon turns and a beautiful (almost sunny) view of the mountains for a drink at the Eagle’s Nest restaurant. We found excellent powder in the Bowled Over bowl. The girls and I did some racing laps to catch the last gondola up and got the beginnings of sunset at the top of the peak.

Afterwards, we relaxed in the hot tub before dinner and chilled in front of our fire. Another amazing day in the mountains!
