Powder Highway: Day Six - Sunrise Ski at Kicking Horse and Onwards to Revelstoke

We had a clear, starry night for our final hot tub on the deck overlooking the Columbia Valley and over to the Canadian Rockies. From that same deck, we saw an incredible sunrise over the same mountain peaks. In fact, our whole gondola ride up to the peak matched the sun’s arc and we got to enjoy an immersive sunrise like no other. The extra wow factor came seeing how the light interplayed with the cloud layer sitting down in the valley.

After a requisite photo shoot at the top, Rachelle and the girls and I did very chilly speed laps on Stairway to Heaven. We got 3 centimeters of powder overnight (the lift whiteboard proclaimed this a powder day!). And the groomers did a great job, even adding a fun and super steep groomer coming off the top of Stairway at 8400’. The bottom half of the mountain was pretty disappointing snow conditions-wise, so we rolled out around noon and headed north-west to Revelstoke. We had a pretty chill afternoon here. Downtown Revy is full of high end mountain sports shops, heli-skiing outfits, and quirky restaurants. Excited for what tomorrow holds!
