AUGUST - Lazy Days of Summer

In between all of our trips, we have spent some nice days around the house. We have especially enjoyed the time with Grand Dada and Nana. As you can see in the pictures below, we have a lot of cleaning up and gear work to do at home following our adventures. A lot of our camping stuff got wet on the trip back from Sucia Island. Here, Charlotte is examining tent poles with Grand Dada.
Now she inspects one of the coolers. I love that she is wearing one of my necklaces. I let her play with a basket full of costume jewelery while I was trying to get ready in the morning, and she loved this necklace!
Another way to entertain the kids in my bedroom while I am trying to brush my teeth and wash my face, is to let them go spinning on daddy's chair. Check out Edison's Thomas the Train underpants - potty training is going well.
A few days later we joined Nana at Kayak Point in Marysville. Charlotte can balance well enough to stay on the teeter-totter without too much help.
After some time on the playground, Nana inflated the kayak and took Edison out into the bay to look for crabs - they found a lot of them, which made Edison's day.
Charlotte is growing so fast, that I think she'll be moving up into the next size of clothes by next month. So we have to wear all of the cute outfits this month! This beautiful hat was knit by the mother of Edison & Charlotte's teacher at school, Miss Maruta. She gave it to Charlotte for her first birthday. It is just divine! But getting it to stay on Charlotte's head is definitely a challenge.
The kids had a sleepover at Nana's house two weeks ago. They spent the following day with Nana & Auntie Kirstie while I drove down to Cispus, near Mount Saint Helens, for "Advisor Day" at the leadership camp that my students had gone to. It was fabulous to spend the day with my students - they are energized and ready for the school year. The kids exhausted Nana, but she had a fun and successful day with them.
