San Francisco - Part 3: Stanford University and The California Academy of Sciences Museum in Golden Gate Park

Palo Alto Monday: Charlotte is dreaming big dreams and has Stanford on her goal board in her room. She has a knack for working hard and making her goals become reality. One of my main mom-goals is to support my kids as they dream their big dreams. So we jumped into the world of college visits on Monday by signing up for an info session and campus tour at Stanford. While we've stopped at many university campuses the past few years, this was our first full-blown session that talked about the admissions process and was geared towards prospective students. The students leading this were impressive as well as amiable and we learned a lot from them. Though it is early to start doing visits like this, the admissions talk helped Edison and Charlotte understand the importance of their choices in high school for academics, activities, and passion for learning. I think this will help them understand the connection of the next few years to their futures.

The Stanford Campus is huge and we saw a lot of it. The style of architecture is unique and the covered walkways are especially captivating since we don't see anything like it in the PNW. It was all pretty impressive and I think has left quite an impression with Charlotte.
The California Academy of Sciences Museum in Golden Gate Park was our final stop of this trip. We were really impressed with the rainforest biosphere. It was delightful to be surrounded by butterflies flittering everywhere and birds up in the trees. We liked spotting the tiny frogs in exhibits. They also have a section underneath featuring fish of the Amazon and another tank for coral reef fish. We got to go up on the rooftop deck to see the signature living roof. The albino alligator was remarkable and the penguins were entertaining. They also had an earthquake simulation that was really cool, too.
That's a wrap on our San Francisco trip 2024! Definitely two big thumbs way up!
