Today we started with a visit to The George Washington University and I had my memory jogged at every turn. We also had a nice game of playing "find my brick," which took forever - but we finally did it.
We cruised by the White House on our way to the National Archives. We got to see the ACTUAL Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and Bill of Rights. No photos allowed as they are old and fragile and light isn't good for them. It was inspirational to see these documents, but very hard to read them.
After that we had a nice lunch in the National Art Gallery's Sculpture Garden which was a beautiful setting.
After that we explored the National Museum of American History. There were some interesting exhibits on voting rights, and the history of democracy in the US. Upstairs we saw Kermit, R2-D2 & C3PO, and one of Prince's guitars. The kids tried out the Presidential Press Briefing Podium which was fun.
We headed back to Alexandria after that, rested up a bit, and then rode the trolley down King Street to the waterfront. We had the best ice cream at Kilwin's! We had another 18,000 step day. Ooof!
