Whistler Ski Trip with Karen

Karen and I headed up to Whistler for my first-ever girls' weekend! She found a cool hotel at Whistler Village (Aava Hotel) that had super friendly staff, every amenity we needed and was dog-friendly, too.

Whistler Village is a totally different experience at night - so beautiful.

We headed up skiing Friday. The snow was great, but the visibility was terrible. It was such a bummer to not be able to show Karen the mountains overall and there was no view to speak of.

It definitely was great to relax in the hot tub after a long day on the mountain.
Saturday was much more clear and we had fun skiing on the Blackcomb side, especially on Seventh Heaven.... until Karen twisted her knee towards the end of the day. We ended up having to get her out of there on the gondola. I felt incredibly horrible about her knee as walking proved to be very painful for her after that. Turns out it was an ACL and she will need surgery, unfortunately.

But its nothing that a trip to the hot tub can't make better (at least for a little bit).
I ended up skiing solo for awhile on Sunday morning. It was our first totally clear and beautiful day. I wish Karen had been able to enjoy the mountain.
But we wrapped up the trip well with a delicious lunch in the village at Basalt by the toasty warm fire. Whistler - we will be back!
