Playground, Grand Daddy's Birthday, and the Cabin

We have started a new tradition, the "Family Fun Day" each weekend. A couple weeks ago we took a picnic to St. Edwards State Park, soaked up the sun, and had fun watching the kids on the playground.

That week was also Grand Daddy Herbert's birthday - so we had a fun party for him!
Breakfast on the weekend! Game Day!
Charlotte's Pikachu Halloween costume finally came in the mail. She is SO EXCITED and it is so soft and cuddly.
After a couple crazy-busy weeks revolving around Shorecrest Homecoming, it is great to be able to get away to the cabin again. The fall color is amazing. Eben and the kids tended the yearly burn pile and we just enjoyed being outside. Ahhhhhh - love this place!

OCTOBER - Pumpkin Patch Visit with Nana

We had a perfect sunny Saturday visit to the pumpkin patch out by Snohomish.
Reed kept picking up the pumpkins and putting them in the wheelbarrow. I'd empty them out, and he'd keep filling it up.
We got to play with some cute sheep in the adjacent field. Way more fun than a lawn mower.
The grounds looked stunning in the autumn sun.
 Charlotte found her perfect pumpkin.
Edison picked out this beastly pumpkin.

 Success!

Family Fun Day at Magnusson Park

After coming back from Leavenworth, we didn't want to squander the day with chores and laundry. So we called a "family fun day" and went to Magnusson Park to run around on the playground, throw the football around, and explore their sprawling grounds. Perfect day!

Autumn Leaf Festival in Leavenworth

One of the weekends we look forward to the most at the cabin all year: Autumn Leaf Festival in Leavenworth. There is a fun parade, the trees are changing color, and the Ponderosa Pines smell amazing. First family picture all summer...
We were lucky to meet friends for the parade - Pete and Jennie came out with Alton and Evie. Plus we got to catch up with Sara McManus and ran into friends Steve and Cindy and their kids. Very fun!
One of the classy-kitschy elements of Leavenworth's Bavarian style...the alpenhorn.
Matt and Lisa's son Syd, came as the drum major of the Monroe High School Band (he is the middle boy in white). So proud of him and Monroe band looked great!

 So much fun in town!
Back at home, we were greeted by Meg and Chris who were staying overnight. We walked to the playground.
And had a nice dinner - eating in two shifts: kid dinner / grown up dinner.
Eben spent last weekend setting up these new lights on the patio. He built the firepit with Chris and Pete with rocks from the property. It turned out beautifully and is now an enchanting place to gather and enjoy the woods.

Wow - two family pictures in one weekend - a record!
And our amazing friends... the Adams Family.
