Homecoming 2016!

Homecoming 2016 was a wild one - the assembly was amazing! Totally organized and ran so smoothly. The students were pumped up and had a blast! There really isn't anything else like the feeling of a crowd of 1500 who is totally into being spirited. Photo credit: Sangwon Cho.

Due to a typhoon, the Superintendent cancelled the dance on its scheduled weekend and it was postponed two weeks. While it wasn't ideal, we did end up with a beautiful evening for the dance and sold a few more tickets.
With Jasmin and Abby. Abby helped the dance all pull together while Jasmin put the final touches on the Empathy Assembly we had on Thursday.
The dance crew!
With Nathan and Arielle - two leadership veterans who make me smile every day!
Report from students on Homecoming Dance 2016 - - - "It was so LIT!" So, I'm going to take that as a success! Actually, I think it was our best one yet. So lucky to share the night with awesome colleagues in chaperone mode and parents running coat check and food tables.

The leadership classes and ASB really pulled everything together, led by their fearless Dance Committee :-) Another reminder of why I love Shorecrest!

Eben's 40th Birthday Party!

After many months of planning and deliberation, Eben settled on a fun birthday involving a football game with the guys followed by dinner and a campfire at our house. The weather was amazing and it was so wonderful to be surrounded by so many awesome friends just letting loose and having fun.
Red team: Eben, Eric, and Michael.
Blue team: Brandon, Stephen, and Chris.

I made a slideshow of pictures from Eben's 40 years and we showed it at the party. You can find it on YouTube: Eben's 40th Birthday Slideshow
We even got little t-shirts for the kids! They are really excited about dad's birthday on Tuesday!
On the day before dad's birthday we celebrated family-style. The kids were really proud of the Patriots Helmet birthday cake they made for daddy.

Ahhhh - a mechanic tool set with ALL the sizes!

Pumpkin Time!

We made our annual trek to the pumpkin patch this weekend. It was a gorgeous fall day and it was so nice to be out in the fresh air and enjoying the sunshine. The kids had fun picking out their pumpkins but they weren't very excited about posing for so many pictures. Luckily, they had to "earn their pumpkins" by smiling for the camera, so we ended up with quite a few great shots. Next weekend - carving!

Grand Daddy's 75th Birthday, New Hot Tub, and Time with Heidi

Charlotte and Reed did a great job making Grand Daddy's birthday cake!
We had fun celebrating this milestone with him and Marsha.

Eben is getting ready to turn 40. For his birthday, we ordered a new hot tub! (Actually we ordered two on accident - but that is a long story!)
Eben assembled the neighborhood crew together to move it from the driveway to the back yard. Couldn't have done it without these guys and we really appreciate their time and trouble to help out.
Made a sling type of system and schlepped it around the house.
A few days later, we were in business! The kids are loving it, too!
On Friday night we got to catch up with Heidi, Max, and Maggie! The kids all played really well together and it was very chill and relaxing.

Reed got his hands on a ukulele and did a pretty amazing job of figuring out how to play it.

OCTOBER - Margaret's Birthday and Olivia's Baby Shower

Margaret's sixth birthday party was blessed with beautiful October sunshine!
Olivia did an amazing job with the ocean-themed decorations and games.

BFFs Charlotte & Margaret

And BFFs Reed & Joseph.

Charlotte's decisive whack took out the pinata.
The following weekend the ladies got together to celebrate Olivia's baby shower in a very refined, girls' night out, kind of way at Erin's house.

Katie made beautiful decorations.
Olivia is still radiant with only a few weeks to go!
