Homecoming 2022 is a Success!!!

Homecoming 2022!!! What a comeback! It’s official - we have our Shorecrest Spirit back! It’s that really amazing awesomeness that you can feel connected to. being there with the kids through planning, set up, and seeing it all come together was gratifying. Shout out to our students, staff - especially our class advisors, custodians, performance team coaches, and Andy Denney for putting in a ton of time to make this happen. Also shout out to our parent volunteers at the dance - WOW - you rock! We did it!

We had 1100 kids at the dance (new record). I did 28,000 steps yesterday (12+ miles , half in heels , between set up, running it and cleaning up. I’m beat! But seeing the students have a blast, dance their hearts out, dress up, etc made it worth it!

OCTOBER - Reed Cooks and Charlotte Runs XC

Charlotte decided to join the XC team almost a week late. But what an excellent choice that was. Great friends, encouraging coaches, and so much fun. Turns out she works hard and is an amazing runner. She won her race last week and got beat by 0.2 at the end today after leading most of the way. She is determined and bold and a joy to watch in motion. What a fortunate mom I am to be able to support her and cheer her on!

Meanwhile, Reed was able to write down Nana's crepe recipe from memory and then convert it to a half recipe. They turned out awesome! Way to go, Reed!

Full Weekends: Cabin, Hike, Gals Paddleboarding Trip, Swim Meet, Band of Horses and Black Keys Concert

Beautiful hike up the PCT off Highway 2 this weekend before 2 opened again made for a really peaceful sunshine-fall day with beautiful colors. Smoky on the east side of the mountains- hanging low in the valleys.
Wrapped up the weekend with a fun ladies paddle on Lake Washington- basking in the sun.
Shout out Rebecca, Rachelle, Pam and Amy - it is so fun having rad, adventurous friends!

The kids had a great swim meet that weekend to kick off this season! So proud of them and their hard work!

Amazing concert by Band of Horses and Black Keys!! Black Keys had us boogieing down song after song- super impressed by them! Thank you to Rachelle and Trent for the invitation. Got treated to the suite life. Sooooo comfy.

Mount Baker Backpack Trip

Snuck in an end-of-summer backpack at Mt Baker this weekend. Very chilly Saturday night but the sunshine came out today and our hike out was glorious!! Top five (no order): 1. Mt Baker and Mt Shuksan views, 2. Wild blueberries, 3. Our awesome meadow campsite at Mazama Lake and being cozy in the tent with views of Table Mountain, 4. Time together having fun, laughing and relaxing, 5. We have rediscovered Corn Nuts as a trail snack.

Also -first fall road trip in our new Subaru Ascent Onxy. Sooooooo smoooooth. And the kids love

all the room, the sun roof (we’ve never had one before), and Apple car play.

Edison is feeling his strength and now randomly picks up logs just to heave them over his head and walk around.

Fall backpacking = tent time at 8:15 at night = plenty of time to read a great book and still get 10 hours sleep.

Ask Reed about what a “mommy bag” is.
