Reed Skis! MLK Weekend at the Cabin

Reed can now ski on his own! After a couple months of guidance and ropes by dad, Eben cut the ties and we just watch little Reed go! It is one of the cutest things I have ever seen! He is usually only good for 3 or 4 runs before he doesn't feel like skiing anymore, but we are having a blast with him on the mountain.

We've had a lot of snow this winter. This is our driveway with a huge island in the middle. Can you spot Reed?
It has been so cold the river is starting to freeze in the eddies and along the shore.

Sully and his family were in Plain for the weekend and stopped by for some sledding time!

Aunt Karen and Uncle Frank came out for the weekend and we got a little time in on skis and we also had a lot of fun playing different board and card games.

Edison and Charlotte on their first run down Pegasus on the back side - they nailed it!

Reed's Preschool Winter Concert

Reed is turning into such a big boy! He is very proud of the gingerbread house he made. He wears his backpack to school just like the big kids. He is doing better and better at using the potty.
The older siblings at the preschool concert. These three were all in preschool together a few years back: Charlotte, Max, and Sammy. Now their little siblings are all in the same preschool class.
Unlike previous years, Reed knew all the words and sang every song! It was such a delight to attend this concert and cheer him on!

A Few More Pictures from Winter Break

We missed including these winter break pictures with Meg and Chris earlier, but I wanted to show what it is like to get six kids on skis from the parking lot to the ski area. (Its a lot of work and a lot of gear! Yet, totally worth it!)
Best buddies sledding up a storm!
A hot bath to warm up.
 My snow monster!

JANUARY - Great Wolf Lodge

Santa brought us a trip to Great Wolf Lodge as our Christmas present! We haven't been in more than two years and Reed is now big enough to go on some of the slides by himself! We were all very excited for our indoor waterpark adventure to help beat the winter blues.

Great Wolf Lodge has a wave pool, inner tube slides, regular water slides, and multi-person inner tube slides plus a big play pool, water playground, and hot tub. Ahhhh! So lovely to be here and so much fun to watch the kids having a blast.

The kids were exceptionally tired after the first day of swimming and the slides. Perfect!

Reed was brave and found out how much fun it is to go on the water slides! He did these red and yellow slides over and over!

New Year's Eve - Goodbye 2016

We wrapped up New Year's Eve by playing in the snow outside the cabin. We did some snowshoe trekking and building of snow forts.
A magical snow started falling after dinner and made everything sparkle for new years.

Best way to ring in the new year! Good friends, mimosas, tunes, snow, and lights!

We found a few sparklers and the "purple rain" fireworks to help jazz up the celebration.
And a game of spades to finish up the year! Goodbye 2016! We will miss you and all the awesome adventures and splendid times you brought us!
