Whistler Vacation - Day 4 (Whistler!)

Whistler Day 4: Charlotte and I had a great Mother-Daughter ski today. We hit the slopes extra early and popped over to Whistler via the Peak-to-Peak gondola. It was a warmish day with a bit of rain on-and-off, but mostly good visibility and wet snow. (so the good news is - there was snow, lol!)  I forgot how beautiful the views are from Whistler when they clouds part and the sun breaks through in beams. Ahhhh - what lucky people we are to enjoy such easy access to this incredible mountain top.

We found pretty decent snow up high - in particular on the Peak Express and Harmony chairs. Charlotte went powder hunting in some of the bowls and found what she was looking for. It was really rewarding to share the day with her and our flow was flowing.

Whistler Vacation - Day 3

Whistler Blackcomb: Day 3. The boys have been under the weather. But today we convinced Reed to join us for some snowy morning runs. The 8” or so of powder up top was a little heavy, but otherwise AMAZING and we were so happy to enjoy it! Unfortunately, Reed was low energy and bailed out after a couple runs. So Charlotte and I had another mother-daughter ski day which I am really digging. The powder was best off Crystal. We had a lot of great runs before heading back to the condo for lunch.
We went back up for afternoon laps off Jersey Cream. Charlotte found just enough powder to ski the upper bowl and I liked the long sweeping runs up there. With even warmer temps, more snow has melted at the base and we can see grass and a mini-golf course at the base now. Everyone has to take the gondola down on the Blackcomb side and more people are opting for that on the Whistler side. So those lines were a bit long on the way down. Happy to be back in our cozy condo and plotting our Whistler runs for tomorrow.

Whistler Vacation- Days 1 & 2

We finally began our ski season at Whistler Blackcomb. We’ve been eager for snow all month and we finally found some up above 6000’. We had incredible views and sunny skies on Tuesday, but today we were socked in and we were either getting pelted with raindrops or giant, wet snowflakes depending on elevation. BUT - the snow felt great under our skis and it was fun to start pushing the speed.
We headed in for lunch and didn’t opt to go back up on the mountain today. It was way more enjoyable to stroll through the village and chill in the pool. Though this isn’t the best conditions, we are making the most of things and the weather makes everything pretty relaxed - no rush to get in lines or do much of anything. Oh wait - I think this is what is called “vacation!” LOL!
My new favorite thing is the giant deer (12'+) along the river as you cross the pedestrian bridge between Blackcomb and Whistler. So beautiful!
