Last Beach Day

We had one last beach day at Jetty Island before putting winterizing the Whaler. It was great to spend it with Ken and his son, KJ. KJ played so well with Edison and Charlotte - we can't wait to do it again next year!
This boat didn't pay attention to the tides. Eben hooked it up to the Whaler and towed it off the beach.
The kids enjoyed their time at the wheel.
So cute - last time for this dress.... moving into size 3 pretty soon.
And new shoes - size 7 - showing off the kicks.
Edison and Charlotte like playing together - especially if it is with the same toy. Music is always good fun. Note Charlotte's Sunday football gear.
We also celebrated Grandaddy's birthday with a tasty meal - only had a 7 for the cake - oops!

OCTOBER - First Football Game

The kids are playing with chalk in the cul-de-sac and riding bikes every day after school. Grandaddy Herbert drew the letters and Edison colored them in.
Edison is enjoying going to my high school football games. Though he does say his favorite part is the marching band.
We had another lovely weekend - hard to believe - and enjoyed it out on Jetty Island with my friend Ken and his son, KJ, age 7. Edison loved hanging out with KJ and the three kids had a great time acting out games such as "fort" and "seaweed monsters."
Every night the kids get to watch a movie if they make good choices all day. Usually they do, so most nights they get to pick a short cartoon to watch like Dinosaur Train or Busytown.

 Playing soccer.
Another big hit lately is playing dress up. This froggie is from Kirstie and Peter.

Play Time at Home

With school in session, we have been pretty low-key around here.
Edison enjoys getting the monthly Big Backyard magazine and now can actually read it. Thanks Auntie Deborah!
We had a lovely dinner with Chris, Meg, Dillon & Liam.
Amazing sunset! This fall has actually been pretty spectacular. I think it only rained one day. Of course it was the day of Edison's first ever field trip and ride on a school bus. They went on the Edmonds-Kingston Ferry, played games on the Peninsula side but came back early due to the rain and had ice cream on the ferry. Edison gave it rave reviews though and is looking forward to the October field trip.
We finally had some time to spend in our yard and realized our veggies had gone crazy! Check out these green beans!
The cherry tomatoes never got caged and were thus - everywhere.
The zucchini had grown to an incredible size. We ended up having quite the harvest!
We read books with Granddaddy Herbert.
Had friends over for a nice campfire.
Alton is now ready to cruise around - at only 9 months.
The kids found their Halloween costumes. Edison did want to be a giraffe (again) but we couldn't find him the costume on Ebay. But we did have this dinosaur costume as a hand-me-down from Cousin Harry and now Edison is pretty excited about it. He walks around roaring, clinching his hands into fists, and stomping his feet - calling himself a "T-Rex!" Charlotte wants to be a dinosaur too - but c'mon, the strawberry costume is ADORABLE! So we've convinced her she is a Strawberry-Saurus Rex and now she is happy with that.
Halloween should be fun this year!
