Last Week at Home Before School

How do you spend the last week of summer? More pool time, more game time, more diving, wrap up all the appointments, and hanging out on the water.

Really cool images of Charlotte's teeth and jaws. Good news: it all looks good for now - going to check back next year after some more of the adult teeth come in. Looks like her right lower jaw might need some help with alignment and apparently her overbite is quite intense... but everything else is looking great - so stay tuned - to be continued.

Also - more diving!

This is what happens when you let your kids pick the activity: we played "Munchkin." It was fun, but I still don't understand it. Edison basically narrates the whole game and I just do what he tells me!

And when I was kid-free, I spent the night on my friend Ken's sailboat on Lake Union. Not a shabby way to spend a Wednesday night! I love my city!!!

The Sugarmans Visit the Cabin in the Sugarvan!

What luck... after wishing Jason happy birthday, we wrote a few times back and forth and figured out his family could join us at the cabin!! So not only did we get to hang out with our awesome cousins: Jason & Tabby, but we also got to spend time with Janie (high school!!! what?!), Isaac (wow - so cute and sweet), but we also got to meet our 6-day old nephew, Alex!!! So good to see family again - it has been way too long!

Wenatchee River Float with Amy, Mike, Zack, Charlie, and Lucy

Perfect river day. Enough said. We did all the things, missed the crowds, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Cabin in August: Lake Wenatchee, Evening with the Leondarson-Meyer Family

We got out to the cabin on Friday in time for a run/ bike ride after dinner. The river and ponderosas always do an understated but firm job of reminding me how much I love it out here.

Charlotte did a nice job of helping with pancakes in the morning.
Then the kids voted to skip a hike and go to Lake Wenatchee instead. It was a perfect day at the beach. The water had finally warmed up, there was a light breeze, and we got one of the last parking spots which ended up limiting the number of people there. We also used our sunshade and tubes to section off a beach area just for us.

At the cabin, we had Amy, Mike, Zack, Charlie and Lucy over after dinner. We played outside games, listened to tunes, and chatted up a storm. Several important "dream big" ideas were born on this night. Stay tuned for more info about those ;-)

Around Town: Pool, Backyard, Grand Daddy, The Birgfelds' Big Backyard

We are enjoying a beautiful Seattle summer with lots of time outside, around water, dinners on the patio, visits with friends and family. It is all adjusted for covid-19 and socially distanced, but we can still find a way to have a good time.

Reed and Ollie got to play together at Horizon View while Charlotte was in dive class (and I got to visit with Katie!!!).
Charlotte loves diving!!!
This dinner with Grand Daddy included Reed sharing pictures with him from our backpacking trip and us watching the incredible roll call of the Democratic National Convention. Also, Reed got an early birthday present!

Last spring the girls planted potatoes, onions, and other vegetables in the garden. Today was harvest time: carrots, onions, purple potatoes. So fun!
