AUGUST - SeaFair 2015 - Definitely Better on a Boat!

This is the first time we've ever taken the Whaler down to watch the SeaFair air show on Lake Washington. I think we've kicked off a new tradition. The air show was impressive and so close. It was  hot day and swimming off the boat was a blast. So glad we could share the day with Matt and Lisa. What an awesome time!

There are a lot of boats that anchor just north of I-90 for the event. It is a huge party on the lake, even without being in the front row on the log boom for the Hydroplane races.
Family photo! Eben rigged up a foam pool float like a runway to get back into the boat. Reed really liked hanging out on it.
 Great friends!
Eben took some spectacular shots of the Navy's Blue Angels.

Summer Fun

We had a few playdates set up last week while we were in town. I didn't get too many pictures, sadly. But we spent one afternoon at the Civic Club with Heidi, Max and Maggie and jumping off the dock. Thursday morning we went to Brynne's house to visit her and her newborn, Stone, and play in her pool. The kids had a blast, especially going off the slide (me too)! Even Reed wanted to slide - he walked right over to the ladder and climbed up. I figured I had better go with him and thought he'd hate it after getting dunked at the end. But he loved it and went back about 20 more times. Who knew?!

We had a BBQ Friday night for friends from work and their families. It was a perfect afternoon for the slip and slide and watermelon. Great times!
The kids: Cameron, Andy, Sabine, Edison, Reed, Charlotte, Evelyn, Miles, Lyla, Jill, and Gaitano.

Coast Guard Reunion - With RJ, Heather and Mo

Heather and Mo, classmates of Eben's from the Coast Guard Academy, stopped over for a few days in Seattle on their cross-country move from San Diego to Sitka, Alaska. We loved seeing them and their four dynamic kids again. We had been stationed together in Connecticut so it was great to catch up. Heather and Jennie are close friends, too, so we all got together for a day at Jetty Island while they were in town. Here is Mo with Xavier, Charlotte, Isaac, Finnian and Edison.
Eben with Jennie, Alton, Evie and Heather with Bea.
The tide was very low and it was perfect for a big walk before lunch.

It was even warm enough for swimming once the tide came up.
Evie, Bea and Reed are all just three months apart and will turn two this fall.
That night, RJ, another Academy classmate, was stopping in Seattle while his flight had an overnight layover en route from Alaska back to DC.  It was wonderful to catch up with him and we trekked up to Jennie's for an early breakfast with everyone before he had to leave. He was amazing with the kids - probably because he could really play on their level.

Almost all the kids: Isaac, Reed, Charlotte, Xavier, Edison, Finnian, Bea, and Evie (Alton wasn't having it!).
