Seattle Center and the Womxn's March

I took the kids to see "The Little Prince" at the Seattle Children's Theater this Saturday. The day happened to correspond to the 2nd Annual Womxn's March which ended at Seattle Center with a big rally. It was really cool to be in that atmosphere with so many people who question the current order of power currently. "The Little Prince" was a little hard for the kids to grasp, but we had some great conversations about the meaning of life afterwards. And, as always, the playground at Seattle Center did not fail to disappoint, even on a rainy day.

MLK Weekend - Snowshoe and Sledding

We couldn't find a great trail, so we just started east of Lake Wenatchee State Park on 207 and headed east towards the ridge. Ended up being a beautiful little walkabout with some lovely birch trees and icy dewdrops on pine trees.

King Reed!
Kim and Dave came over to play in the snow. So much fun! The kids matched up so well and were unstoppable on the sledding hill.

JANUARY - Swim Meet, Joseph's B-day and Little Scotties Cheer Camp

The kids had a swim meet the first weekend of January. They both did great and earned lots of best times. Joseph had a superhero birthday party on a record-breaking 64 degree January day. Later in the month, Charlotte did the Shorecrest Little Scotties basketball cheer camp with a bunch of her friends. She had a blast!

Closing Out 2017

We wrapped up 2017 with friends at the cabin. Matt and Lisa met us at Stevens on the 30th. It was so wonderful to catch up with Lisa and have a little girl time on the slopes.

Chris and Meg joined us later that night and we put the new fire pan to good use. Lots of sledding ensued and we had a merry time.
After watching the Seahawks lose and miss out on a play-off spot on New Year's Eve, we gathered round for festive karaoke before the ceremonial sledding and fireworks. Goodbye, 2017, we had many adventures together, found our kids grow more independent and turn into quick thinkers and thoughtful children. We shall see what 2018 will bring!

Ski Week

Our Christmas present to Grand Daddy Herbert was a trip to the Seattle Art Museum to the see the Andrew Wyeth exhibit followed by lunch and a quick tour of the Pike Place Market. He instilled in me a sense of appreciation for art and museums and it was neat to share this day with him and the kids.

We also got in six days of skiing over Winter Break! We skied with friends, with the kids, and even took one day for ourselves while Nana took the kids on their Christmas shopping adventure.  Nothing beats swishing down those slopes with the children flying ahead of us and looking out over the many folds of jagged mountains from the top of the ridge.
