My kids swam their hearts out during the championship week and qualified for both Northern Finals and then moved on to the 16-team All City Meet. At All City, they either dropped time and moved up in placement or held their own in all their swims and relays. The best part was sharing all of this with friends and teammates. Thank you to our incredible coaches for making this a fun and rewarding swim season! Meanwhile, I enjoyed serving as a stroke and turn official for all four of these meets and am happy to do what I can to make sure we can put on these great meets for our swimmers. For posterity: (Reed: 200 Medley Relay (back), 2:11.73, 5th place / 100 IM, 1:11.12, 4th place / 50 BR, 36.31, 5th place / 200 FR Relay, 1:56.79, 5th place) (Charlotte: 200 Medley Relay (breast), 1:56.79, 6th place / 100 Free, 56.06, 5th place / 200 FR Relay, 1:44.77, 5th place) (Edison: 100 IM, 58.12, 7th place).
At the Team Banquet, all three kids were awarded the Iron Shark, Reed got plaques for the records he set last season individually in 50 BR and 50 FR, and with his 200 FR Relay Team, and Reed won the Sportsmanship Award for consistently cheering for his teammates and being a positive encourager!
