Goat Rocks backpack loop with Heidi

We started off with a paddle board + planning session a few days before our trip. We had perfect weather to savor this loop trail that, with the side trips we did for our rambles, came out to be 22 miles. We spent two nights on the trail - one at Upper Snowgrass Flats and the other at Goat Lake.

I would love to bring the kids here - the elevation gain is mostly moderate, the scenery is incredible, the terrain is varied, and the wildflowers were incredible this week. The marmots were friendly and photogenic. I loved the side trip up to Hawkeye Point where we could see Adams, Helens, Rainier and all up and down the Cascades. Heidi took a dip in the freeeeeezing cold Goat Lake. We even saw shooting stars from the Persiad Meteor Showers. It was pure magic. And to top it off, we ran into friends on the trail - Miranda and Evan from Aqua Club / Shorecrest! It is hard to pick just a few photos, but hopefully these help show how magical it was up there!
