Auction Season & More Track Highlights for Edison

Heidi Rutledge was my date for the annual Booster auction this year, so obviously the night was a total blast! Got to sit by Alan Bruns at our staff table, too, and he always brings the positive energy. The Boosters did an amazing job putting together the Shorecrest Auction this weekend. Everything was beautifully decorated and the Green & Gold theme really popped. The food, made by our Culinary Arts students was delicious! It was so fun to see so many friends at the event - it felt like our whole community was pulling together to help provide extra opportunities and needed funding support. I also got to attend the Kellogg Auction the following weekend, "Derby Days." So I topped off my cocktail dress with a fascinator. I liked the trivia portion of that auction even though we weren't super competitive!

Meanwhile, Edison had two track meets: a home meet Thursday and the Birger Solberg Invitational in Bellingham yesterday. He got a personal record (PR) in shot put on Thursday, throwing a 34.5”. On Saturday, the team got on the bus at 7:00 AM to head to Bellingham. Edison’s flight of the discus didn’t even begin until nearly 5:00. So that was a long day of cheering on teammates while also waiting in the cold and rain for his event. He ended up throwing a PR 123’6”, earning 8th overall, and he was the highest placing freshman in the event. It is really exciting to see his progression in these throwing events! He is fortunate to have good coaches and older mentors on his team.
