I woke up early with a craving to walk the Pa-arus trail in the Zion Valley one last time. I was able to get a prime parking spot at the north end of the trail and got to see the rock walls light up as the sun came up and hit them with its rays. I’m so glad I had that peaceful morning session to start the day. After breakfast with Charlotte at the hotel, I hopped in the hot tub one last time before we had to pack up and hit the road. We drove a couple hours to Nevada’s first State Park: Valley of Fire. It was an incredibly hot 90F, but the scenery was worth getting out to see. We did a short, sandy trail to see petroglyphs. I have seen many petroglyphs in my life and honestly, there were SO MANY of them on this short trail and the variety of the carvings was impressive. Plus they were super accessible. I’d highly recommend coming here for this alone. We also hiked the Fire Wave trail which was near the top of a plateau. Its main attraction is a striated pink and white rock carved by erosion to resemble a giant wave. The kids enjoyed climbing all over it and it is one of the more interesting rock formations I have ever seen. There are many other gems in this park that are just a short walk from a parking spot, but we didn’t have time to see more. We had to head back to Vegas to catch our flight. Goodbye, Zion - until next time! You were the perfect mini-Spring Break Getaway for our family!
