DECA Nationals, Track, Book Club

 We got home and everything started right up again! Charlotte was in Orlando, Florida for the DECA Nationals Convention. She wasn't competing, but went as a school representative and attended a lot of sessions to learn best practices, get new ideas, etc. I think she also just had a lot of fun in Florida with her teammates.

We had book club at the Local 104. We read "Woman, Captain, Rebel" about a female sea captain in Iceland in the early 1800s - it was fascinating. James and I headed to Pioneer Square for the first Thursday Art Walk on a gloriously warm and sunny evening.

The highlight of the week were amazing track & field performances by Edison and Charlotte. Charlotte had two monster PRs (109'0" in discus and 101'5" in javelin) to win two first place finishes for her team. She also ran the 400 and despite not practicing for almost 2 weeks, was able to nearly hold her time for the season. In addition to a solid discus performance, Edison gained another half foot on his shot put PR to throw 44'2.75" and got a PR in javelin (115'4") - a new event he is trying out. It is really incredible to watch Edison and Charlotte this season and it is so fun to cheer them on!!!
