We headed to downtown Charleston as our final stop to peek around before our flight. We drove to the south end, the Battery, to see its park, waterfront, and enormous and impressive mansions. We even got to see a lot of birds at the park. After that we drove north to the historic downtown and ate a quick bite at the famous Fleet Landing, a fun restaurant in what was an old navy building. Last stop was the town pier and its view of the harbor and Fort Sumter. There was a lot we didn't see yet in this area and I hope to go back - just not during a heat dome event with extreme heat warnings and temperatures of 102F! Charlotte was a great travel companion and I thoroughly enjoyed sharing our trip together!
