OCTOBER - Hiking with Amy: Peggy's Pond, Cathedral Rock and Circle Lake

Amy and I headed to eastern Washington for the weekend with the goal of doing a couple beautiful hikes. Saturday was a stunner - in 14 miles we saw four lakes, each with an incredible and unique color ranging from turquoise to jade. We hiked through snow that had fallen the previous day, scrambled over talus slopes, and hit over 4000' elevation gain and it was all worth it. I can't count how many times we remarked how lucky we were to be able to experience all this beauty! AND we avoided the crowds - seeing only 10 people out and about on this trail. The icing on the top was seeing fresh snow on the peaks! We finished the hike at 6:00 and drove an hour-and-a-half to camp close to our next trailhead. Luckily we stopped at Safeway in Cle Elum for hot mac & cheese from the deli and got to use running water and soap - luxuries! We rolled into camp after dark and pretty much collapsed into a nest of cozy down sleeping bags and fell asleep.
