Don't bury the lead! Swim Updates: Charlotte and Reed qualify for the All City Swim meet in individual events and both of their Free Relay Teams broke team records at the Northern Champs meet tonight!!! Congrats to all Aqua Club Swimmers for awesome swims tonight and big thanks to our coaches for preparing them to achieve successes in the water!
It has been a whirlwind two weeks of swimming for the Phillips family. Charlotte and Reed swam in Long Course Champs at KCAC which required an overnight stay since it was long days of swimming, finals and early wake ups. Charlotte and Reed did amazing at the meet and got best times. Charlotte even swam the 1500M (mile) race!
Johanna swam in the GSSSL adult swim meet and won the 100 FR (for her age, LOL!). Mostly she was just happy to participate and have a little fun with her teammates in the pool after training together in the evenings for the past 6 weeks.
The kids finished the dual meet season with a great meet and said farewell to 12 awesome swimmers at Senior Night.
This week was the summer swim league Northern Championship week - with prelims and finals meets on three nights. Reed won all his events at both prelims and finals and is moving on to All City. His 200 FR Relay broke the Aqua Club record tonight as those four boys swam their hearts out! Charlotte had best times in her races at prelims, finishing 3rd for both the 100 FR and 50 BK and moved onto Northerns in those and two relays. At Northerns, she finished 2nd in the 50 BK and her 200 FR Relay dropped another second, finished first, and broke the Aqua Club record (again)! Edison had excellent swims at prelims and dropped time in both his 50 BK and 50 BR, but it is hard to be the youngest swimmer in the age group with a lot of really talented swimmers. He finished 8th in both individual events and only top 6 move on to Northerns. He did, however, blow away his old PR in the discus at the Wednesday Shoreline Track Meet and threw over 150’! That distance would have qualified him for the State track meet last spring, so that is really awesome! Our last meet of the season will be the All City meet on Tuesday and after that we’ll take a little break from swimming to recover!
The Aqua Club End of Season Swim Team Party. So much fun to celebrate the swimmers, coaches, and all the hard work they put in! After the awards, the kids did crazy dives off the board, played intense water basketball, fliers up, and even whole-pool games of sharks and minnows!
